    The 3-week Diet was created by Brian Flatt, a sports nutritionist, personal trainer, and health coach. He holds a biology degree from San Diego State University. Flatt developed the 3-week Diet after conducting his own research including reviewing dozens of scientific articles and weight loss books.

    How Does it Work?

    It’s an easy, straightforward program meant to simplify your weight loss plan rather than complicate it. Once you buy and then download the diet plan, you will have four manuals, a complete workout and nutritional plan. You’ll be able to read through the manuals to learn about the various phases of the program. You also will be able to personalize it to your body type.

     

    The 3-week Diet consists of four phases:

     

    1.) The first phase takes place during the first seven days of the diet program. It involves what Flatt calls detoxing your body to remove unhealthy toxins. According to Flatt, most people accumulate toxins in their body through lifelong unhealthy eating habits. It is those toxins which prevent many from losing weight when they try conventional dieting methods. The program also claims that during this first phase you will activate certain nerve and hormones related to your liver and digestive systems. As a nutritionist, Flatt recommends supplementing the program with vitamins A, C, and D, eating 17 different types of vegetables as well as lean protein.

     

    2.) Phase two of the 3-week program involves “Fasting for 24 hours”. Fasting is an increasingly popular but unproven weight loss method. Individuals who regularly fast claim it cleanses the body from all harmful toxins opening the way to healthier bodies and greater weight loss. These same individuals believe fasting is a way of “resetting” the body to increase its energy while improving its overall health. Some of the science on fasting is conflicting on these claims.

    3. The third phase of the 3-week Diet is called the “Fat Fast Diet” and begins on the 9th day of the 21-day program. This phase lasts only three days. This phase continues the body detox. During this phase, dieters are required to obtain 80% of their calories from fat. Users receive specific directions and tips on how to accomplish this and stay on track.

    The fourth and final phase “Focus on your BMR” takes place for the last nine days beginning on the 12th through 21st day ending the 3-week Diet. Users now focus on eating fresh, clean (unprocessed) foods as well as keeping carbohydrates low to moderate. You’ll also receive advice on maintenance following your 21 days on the diet.

    •   It’s electronically downloaded off their website which can be to its detriment for those who’d rather run out and purchase paper copies at their local bookstore.

     

    •   While Flatt quotes some science to back up his fat-burning claims and theories, some users or reviewers complain that there is a gap between the science and the actual diet. However, they admit that the results seem to “speak for themselves.”

     

    •   If you don’t like fasting, you’ll hate the fasting day associated with the 3-week Diet. It does seem to be optional, but how that affects your weight loss overall or speed of weight loss isn’t clear.
